Music is sound , composed in certain rhythms to express people’s feelings or to transfer certain feelings. Music is essential for everybody. The physical appearance of the world would be very different without music, because people come up with the most brilliant ideas while listening to their favorite kind of music. It also has been proven that listening to music raises intelligence, especially for a child. The earlier a child is exposed to music, the more advanced their spatial reasoning skills will be. The left side of the brain is better developed with music, and songs can help imprint information on young minds. Even when performing with sheet music, student musicians are constantly using their memory to perform. The skill of memorization can serve students well in education and beyond. Learning music promotes craftsmanship, and students learn to create good work instead of mediocre work. This desire can be applied to all subjects of study. Students who practice with musical instruments can improve their hand-eye coordination. Just like playing sports, children can develop motor skills when playing music. Learning to play pieces of music on a new instrument can be a challenging, but achievable goal. Students who master even the smallest goal in music will be able to feel proud of their achievement.

Our school not only focuses on academics, but also on extra-curricular activities as well. There are well dedicated teachers for music as well as dance and their contribution to the Birla School is commendable and unforgettable. At present we have 4 music teachers and 4 dance teachers in our department. We have a music band , choir group , a dance group and a brass band team. All the teachers in our department is giving a good training for the students. There are 25 students in our Brass Band who are well trained.

Our teachers prepare the students for extrinsic and intrinsic competitions. Each group has been trained and taken for the various Qatar Government Cultural programs and other cultural community. Also our students have won prizes for various competition held in Doha.

As we know that in each student there will be a hidden talent and our intention is to find the hidden talents in each student and to motivate them. This will also help them to develop in academics as well.
